Blue Mountain Dressage offering three scholarships

WALLA WALLA — The Blue Mountain Dressage and Combined Training Association (BMDCTA) is offering three scholarships to assist youth with participation in the Walla Walla Pony Club (a member of the US Pony Club, www.ponyclub.org).

Youth must submit a two-paragraph essay explaining why they want to be involved in Pony Club, as well as an educational poster on a horse-related topic.

Essay and poster must be submitted to Red Barn Stables, 1936 Heritage Rd., Walla Walla, WA 99362. Submissions may be left in the red mailbox in the barn.

Due date for submissions is Feb. 15, and winners announced by March 13.

The Grand Scholarship Recipient receives $150 toward educational Pony Club activities (i.e. membership, dressage lessons, jumping lessons, rallies, clinics, or camp); may participate in one group lesson with Jim Briggs at no charge; may show in one dressage class for free at the BMDCTA schooling show in June (recipient must volunteer at the show if participating); may participate in BMDCTA Jumper Day for no charge (recipient must volunteer at the event if participating); will receive a one-year membership to the BMDCTA Dressage Club.

Two Reserve Scholarship Recipients receive $125 toward educational Pony Club activities (i.e. membership, dressage lessons, jumping

lessons, rallies, clinics, or camp); may participate in BMDCTA Jumper Day for no charge (must volunteer at the event if participating); will receive a one-year membership to the BMDCTA Dressage Club.
