W-P girls hand Pioneers 44-26 loss

WAITSBURG — Waitsburg-Prescott jumped out to a 12-3 first-quarter lead and never looked back in a 44-26 non-league girls basketball victory over Mac-Hi.

Krystal Harris led W-P with 22 points, with Katie Kuykendall picked up 11.

Makia Carlson led the Pioneer effort with 15 points.

“Makia Carlson had a great game for us, pulling down a season-high points and boards,” Mac-Hi coach Nicole Christian said. “She had a quiet first half and then she turned it on in the second, picking up 13 points and 10 of her boards.”

Harris’ performance impressed her opposing coach.

“Harris had a great night for W-P,” Christian said. “She is a great guard and shooter!”

Mac-Hi, now 3-12 overall, heads to Baker at 6 p.m. Friday.

Waitsburg-Prescott, 4-4 in Southeast 2B League play and 7-11 overall, play at DeSales at 6 p.m. Friday.
