WALLA WALLA — Police arrested an 18-year-old man on investigation of vehicular assault following a collision that sent at least two people to the hospital on Saturday night.
According to a police report, Jesus Sosapavon was driving east in the 500 block of Washington Street when he failed to navigate a curve in the road, and struck a west-facing parked car at about 10:30 p.m.
Sosapavon suffered minor injuries from the collision, but two teenage passengers in his vehicle were unconscious and unresponsive when medics arrived, and a third reportedly suffered a bloody nose and whiplash from the collision.
According to the police report, Sosapavon was speeding, and reportedly told an officer he had consumed “some” alcohol. A witness told police Sosapavon may have been traveling roughly 40 mph.
“Most of the passengers were not wearing restraints,” said Tim Bennett, spokesman for the Walla Walla Police Department. He said all four were treated at a local hospital.
Sosapavon was lodged at the Walla Walla County Jail, and bail was set at $30,000.
