KENNEWICK — Two more Walla Walla golfers qualified for district play during a Washington Junior Golf Association sub-district tournament here Monday at Canyon Lakes.

Scott Kimball, competing in the boys 14-15 age division, shot an 83 and placed ninth in his division to earn a district berth. And Shea Kimball, 12-13 age group, shot 91 and placed sixth, also good for a district slot.

Two other Walla Walla boys in the 12-13 age group also competed but failed to advance. Matt Baumgart shot a 95 and Caden McCaw carded 112.

Among Walla Walla players who had already qualified for district, Emily Baumgart and Jessica Huntsman led the way.

Baumgart finished first in the girls 14-15 age division with a score of 74 and Huntsman placed second in the girls 16-17 group with an 86. Marisa Jimenez, already a district qualifier in the 16-17 division, turned in a 103 Monday.

In the girls 12-13 group, Allison Wanichek shot 124. She has yet to qualify for district.

Juniors have two more sub-districts — July 8 at Sun Willows in Pasco and July 15 in Wenatchee — to qualify for the district tournament, which will be played July 22-23 at Suncadia near Cle Elum. The Washington Junior Golf Association state tournament is slated July 31-Aug. 1-2 in Tacoma.
