Brittany Minden, who graduated this spring from both Walla Walla Valley Academy and Greenways Academy, received a $500 scholarship from the Washington Association of Learning Alternatives, according to Stephanie Eastman, Greenways western region administrator.
Brittany plans to pursue a teaching degree at Union College in Lincoln, Neb., and wants to teach middle school students in fifth-ninth grades. Her grandmother, Carol Hargraves of College Place, is a retired elementary teacher in one- and two-room schools in multiple grades.
While attending WWVA fulltime, Brittany took additional online courses to further challenge and enhance her high school curriculum.
To celebrate her graduation, father Dwight Bartlett of College Place said Brittany and her mom, Kristy Bartlett, took a two-week trip around Europe, including stops in Ireland, Wales, London and Paris and Normandy Beach in France.
