WALLA WALLA — The 63rd annual All-City Championships golf tournament has been scheduled Aug. 10-11.
The opening round of the 36-hole tourney will be played at the Walla Walla Country Club. Players will then move to Veterans Memorial Golf Course for the concluding round.
Play will commence both days at 7:30 a.m. on graduated tee times.
The tournament is stroke-play competition, will be flighted by handicap and there will be payouts in both gross and net. The All-City champion will be the player with the best gross score over 36 holes regardless of the flight he or she is placed in.
All players must be 18 years of age or older with a certified United States Golf Association handicap at a recognized facility in Walla Walla County. Eligible players must also live within 30 miles of Walla Walla.
The field will be limited to the first 120 players who sign up.
Entry forms are available at the country club, Vets Memorial and at the Wine Valley Golf Club. Interested players can also call any of the three pro shops — country club (509-525-1562), Memorial (509-522-7059) and Wine Valley (5-9-525-4653) — for further information.
The entry fee is $75 for country club members and those holding season passes at Memorial. For all others, the entry fee is $100, which includes green fees both days and a bar be que lunch following Saturday’s round at the country club.
The entry fee does not cover the cost of a power golf cart.
Country club head professional Lysa Hyland said she is hopeful that there will be enough interest among women and seniors to have separate flights for those two groups.
“We need at least 12 seniors and 12 women to have their own flights,” Hyland said. “If not, we will place those players according to their handicaps.”
Hyland also noted that tournament chairman Don Bush is in the process of identifying persons or businesses interested in getting involved as tee sponsors or possibly long drive and putting contest sponsors.
Those who are interested can call Bush at 509-301-0254.
