Robert “Bob” and Anne Hysell will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Monday. The couple met in junior high school in Minnesota and wed on July 8, 1953.
Bob earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and a master of architecture from Harvard University. His varied career took the Hysells around the world, including years in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Hong Kong. Most recently, he designed and built their first Walla Walla home on Graybill Pond.
Anne studied at the College of Art and Design at the University of Minnesota and at the University of Houston. An accomplished artist with a passion for painting, her artwork has appeared in numerous juried and invitational shows and can be found in private collections around the world.
Since settling in Walla Walla, Anne has been involved in many local organizations including Friends of Children of Walla Walla, Walla Walla Art Club, MLB book club, and AAUW.
The Hysells enjoy many activities together including travel, laughing hard, a good game of cards and being with their large circle of friends and family from over the years.
Their daughter Catherine Hysell lives in Walla Walla. In addition, the Hysells are the Whitman College friendship family for international student Nandini Rathy of India.
