Chainsaw gang to vie in Milton-Freewater Carvin' by the Blues contest July 20-21

MILTON-FREEWATER — The Carvin’ by the Blues Chainsaw Carving Competition will be held July 20 and 21 at the vacant lot next to Ace Hardware on Highway 11.

Up to 15 teams of carvers will complete in the annual competition that awards a first-place prize of $1,000. A panel of judges will choose the top three winners. A quick carve prize will be awarded daily with an auction to follow. At the end of the event, a People’s Choice Award is also announced. The schedule for Saturday is morning carve 8 p.m.; quick carve 1 p.m.; auction 2:45 p.m.; afternoon carve 3:30 p.m.; ends at 7 p.m.

The schedule for Sunday is morning carve 8 a.m.; quick carve 12:30 p.m.; judging 1 p.m.; awards 2:30 p.m.; auction 3-4:30 p.m.
