College Place resident, Jewell E. Compston, 82, passed away July 1, 2013, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.
Jewell was born Oct. 31, 1930, in Fallon, Nev., to George and Evelyn Caton Parrish. She attended Walla Walla College. In 1951, she and Leslie Compston married in Fallon. She worked part time as a licensed practical nurse and was a local Tupperware distributor for several years. Helping her family and friends was of utmost importance to her. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
Jewell is survived by two daughters, Colleen Compston of Walla Walla and Lynda Estey of Walnut Creek, Calif.; two sons, Michael Compston of Puyallup, Wash., and Lonnie Compston of College Place; two sisters, Arlene Blix of Corona, Calif., and Joy Starks of College Place; a brother, Wendell Parrish of Reno, Nev.; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 25, 1999.
The memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 14, 2013, in the Chapel of the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church, 12th and Larch Streets, College Place. Pastor Eric Sayler will officiate. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, WA
