Bruins sweep doubleheader with Richland

RICHLAND — The Walla Walla Bruins baseball team swept Richland here Saturday, 15-3 and 6-4, to improve its league record to 13-2.

The Bruins will conclude league play early this week. They play Monday at home at 5:30 p.m. against the Hanford Flames and play at the Flames Tuesday.

Walla Walla scored 14 runs in the fourth inning of game one Saturday.

“We scored on a combination of nine hits and six walks,” Bruins coach Jason Parsons said. “When their pitching imploded and didn’t throw strikes we banged the baseball around hard.”

Logan Cordeiro was 5-for-6 at plate in the doubleheader and knocked a two-run double in the decisive five-run sixth inning.

Ryan Kimball got the win in the five-inning game one and Adam Eskil went five of the seven innings on the mound to get the victory in game two.
