LEWISTON, Idaho — The Walla Walla Bears swept a doubleheader from the Lewis-Clark Twins here Saturday, winning 12-0 in five innings and 8-3 in seven frames.
The Bears (26-9-1) dominated in game one behind a complete game 3-hit shutout by JJ Zamora and 10 hits to go with 12 runs.
“We hit the ball very well today,” Walla Walla coach Brian Kitamura said. “JJ Zamora had an outstanding in game one for us and Pete Bakker had himself a day; he went 5-for-5. It was great to see from him.”
Bakker had four hits in game one and led off game two with a two-RBI single in inning one.
The Bears were tied 3-3 after three innings and had a five-run top of the fourth to pull away.
The fourth was highlighted by singles from both Josh Eggers and Travis Haen. Moe Handcox also contributed a sacrifice fly.
Handcox had three base knocks on the day to extend his hitting streak to 15 games.
Spencer Cordeiro and Cameron Richman had pitching duties in game two. The pair had a representative performance, giving up just four hits and three runs.
The Bears play again today at noon in another doubleheader versus the Twins.
