WALLA WALLA — City officials are short eight volunteers to serve on five different committees, boards or commissions.
Historic Preservation Commission: Two openings expiring June 30, 2016. Members make decisions on properties eligible for historic preservation classification. Special consideration given to applicants with related experience. City or urban growth boundary residency is required. Meets fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m.
Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters 1 Disability Board: One opening expiring in two years. Member will make decisions on provisions of medical coverage for police and fire retirees. Meets second Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m.
Parks, Recreation & Urban Forestry Advisory Board: One opening expiring Dec. 31, 2015. Members make recommendations on city parks, recreation programs and facilities, tree plantings and cuttings, and maintenance policies. City residency is required. Meets first Monday of each month at 7 p.m.
Sustainability Committee: Two openings expiring June 30, 2016. Members develop strategies to solve social, economic and environmental issues in an efficient, feasible and cost effective manner. City residency is required. Meets first Tuesday of each month at 3:30 p.m.
Water & Wastewater Advisory Committee: Two openings expiring June 30, 2016. Members provide recommendations on conservation, water rights, quality, quantity and other issues. City residency or residency in property served by city is required. Meets third Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m.

Deadline for submitting application is July 29. All appointments, except for the LEOFF 1 Disability Board, are made by City Council and begin immediately.
