Carolyn Jean “CJ” Stebbins passed on to her eternal glory on June 29, 2013, at Hospice House of Spokane.

Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Albert Gillin officiating. Burial will be in Missoula, Mont.

Mrs. Stebbins was born March 7, 1928, in Butte, Mont., to Dr. Harold and Jane Schwartz. Her cherished childhood memories were spending summer days at the 320 Guest Ranch near Glacier Park with her two brothers, Harold and John Carl.

She and William Marcus “Bill” Stebbins were married March 16, 1952, in Butte. The couple met at a dormitory exchange dance at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she graduated from the School of Nursing. They made their home in Missoula, where she and Bill raised their three daughters. They moved to this area in 1981, where her husband worked as a local pharmacist for 20 years.

A homemaker, CJ was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Chapter DX PEO, Delphian Club of Walla Walla, and two bridge clubs. She loved music and was a talented pianist. She enjoyed singing with her husband in the church choir. She was a skilled knitter and made many lovely sweaters for her girls and a special baby blanket for each of her grandchildren. She crafted a beautiful Christmas village for each of her girls that will be a treasured heirloom for their families. She loved to garden and had a beautiful display of iris in her front yard.

Her favorite charities included First Presbyterian Church, P.E.O, Yellowstone Boys Ranch and National Cancer Society.

Survivors include her daughters, Marcia Amend of Spokane, Nancy Bloomfield of Soldotna, Alaska, and Ann Farris of Coeur d’Alene; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Bill Stebbins.
