March 13, 1909 — July 18, 2013
WALLA WALLA — Helen Evelyn Morris, 104, passed away July 18, 2013, at her home.
Helen was born March 13, 1909, in Milton to Jay and Dolly (Feagins) Morris. Her family came as pioneers in the 1850s and 1860s. She graduated from McLoughlin Union High School. A lifetime resident of this area, she lived in Milton for 36 years and has lived in Walla Walla for the past 68 years.
Helen played the piano beautifully and was even gifted to play by ear. She graciously shared her talent at her church and with various community activities. Helen was a very kind and gentle person. She strongly valued her independence and remained in her own home until the end. She always credited God for taking care of her. She felt blessed and liked to pass that on to others when she could. All who knew her can attest to her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. She was a faithful member of the Central Christian Church and Eastern Star.
Helen is survived by her niece and nephew-in-law, Mary Ann and Jeff Miller of Eugene; grand-niece, Jennifer Brian of Portland; and grand-nephew, Chris Miller of Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Drusilla; and two brothers, Elson and Nelson Morris.
The graveside service will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Milton-Freewater Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Miller will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice or Meals-on-Wheels through Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
