Baumgart wins WJGA District tournament, heads to state

CLE ELUM, Wash. — Emily Baumgart carded a 74-75 — 149 Monday and Tuesday at Suncadia Resort to win the 14-15 age division of the WJGA District 4 Tournament.

Baumgart, who will be a sophomore at DeSales this fall, was the only golfer from the area to qualify for the WJGA state tournament, which is slated for Monday-Aug. 2 at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash.

Other golfers included Wa-Hi senior-to-be Jessica Huntsman, who carded a 92-88 — 180 to finish fifth in the girls 16-17 age grouping. Marisa Jimenez carded a 101-107 — 208 in the same class.

Shea Kimball carded 100-102 — 202 in the 12-13-year-old boys class. Matthew Baumgart joined him with a 101-110 — 211.
