WALLA WALLA — The trial of a local woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend in the arm while at their Walla Walla apartment in February has been postponed a second time in Superior Court.

Stephanie D. Ketcham, 27, of 329 S. Third Ave., Apt. 5, initially was set for a May trial, which then was delayed until July 10.

The proceedings now have been rescheduled to begin Oct. 8 as the result of Ketcham signing a waiver of her right to a speedy trial.

Ketcham has pleaded innocent to the charge of second-degree assault — domestic violence.

Officials claim that on Feb. 24, she grabbed a kitchen steak knife, went into the bedroom and stabbed Gary L. Jones on his left arm, just above the elbow.

Police were notified about 5:30 a.m. after Jones went to Providence St. Mary Medical Center for treatment.

Jones told authorities that Ketcham had told him to leave, but he didn’t leave soon enough and she stabbed him, according to a police report filed in court.

Ketcham was located at the residence, the report says.

“(She) stated she had been trying to get Jones to move out for the past seven months. She told him to leave and he would not. He just continued antagonizing her, and she grabbed a kitchen knife and swung at him.”

Ketcham was arrested and booked into the County Jail, but was ordered released March 6 pending further court proceedings.
