Wheat fire fills sky with smoke

As a pile of hay continues to burn, firefighters put out hot spots from a standing wheat fire late Saturday afternoon along Spring Creek Road east of Walla Walla. Firefighters from several local departments — including Districts 4 and 8, and College Place — were able to stop the fire just a few hundred feet from the historic Kibler Farm at 1048 Spring Creek Road.
