Alvina S. Oleson of Milton-Freewater passed away on Oct. 25, 2012, at the age of 92 years. An inurnment will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 9 a.m. at the Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens in College Place followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Milton-Freewater. Memorial contributions can be made to the Christ the King Lutheran Church (Kings Kids) pre-school.
Alvina S. Oleson was born on Nov. 30, 1919, the daughter of Andrew and Sarah (Heggen) Vorland in Rake, Iowa. She attended area schools near Rake. Alvina married Alvin Oleson on Sept. 10, 1949, and were married for 58 years. The couple settled in Milton-Freewater in 1987. On March 14, 2007, Alvin preceded her in death. Alvina was involved in church activities and the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her sons, Ron Oleson of Milton-Freewater and Stan Oleson of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Gehard Vorland of Minneapolis, Minn.; grandchildren, Anita, Hillary, Brent, Hattie and Kerrie; great-grandchildren, Banyan, Nicole and Aubrie; and other relatives and friends. Her parents; sister, Mildred Christenson; and brothers, Earl and Sanford Vorland all preceded her in death.
