Fundraiser to benefit local Books for Babes program

WALLA WALLA — The Moms’ Network of Walla Walla will hold a fundraiser to benefit Books for Babes.

The event, which is open to the public, will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Book & Game Company, First Avenue and Main Street. Treats, crafts and story times are the featured entertainment.

Books for Babes provides free books to the families of newborns in the Walla Walla Valley in order to encourage encourage early literacy. Each newborn receives a soft book, hard book and a book homemade by local kids.

Soft books for the program can be purchased for $6.75 at Book & Game June 8-30 and donated directly into the book bags for newborns. The Moms’ Network will match any soft book purchased and donated at Saturday’s event.

“This is a wonderful partnership for us,” said Karri Bruce, Books for Babes board member. “With the support of the Moms’ Network and the community we can continue to provide early learning opportunities for the children of Walla Walla.”

The Moms’ Network provides opportunities to local parents to network and be involved in the community. For more information about the event or the Moms’ Network, contact Beth Swanson at 509-301-7471 or
