Garrison picks assistant principal

WALLA WALLA — Garrison Middle School school counselor Kristen Graber has been named new assistant principal of the school.

Graber will step in for current assistant principal Brett Cox, who has accepted the position of Prescott School District Superintendent.

Graber and Cox start their new jobs July 1, to coincide with the start of the 2013-14 school year.

The salary range for Graber’s position is $83,285 to $98,040.

Graber has been the Garrison school counselor the past two years, according to a Walla Walla Public Schools news release. She is also an adjunct psychology professor at Blue Mountain Community College.

Graber served as principal at the North Powder School District from 2009-11, and principal in the Elgin School District from 2006-09. She worked in a teaching and administrative position for the Pilot Rock Jr./Sr. High School from 2000 to 2006.

Graber will join recently hired Garrison Principal Roberto Elizondo, who will begin leading the middle school July 1.

Elizondo is currently principal of Riverside Junior/Senior High School in the Morrow County School District in Lexington, Ore., where he has worked about two years.

Elizondo replaces Garrison Principal Gina Yonts, who was recently named principal of Green Park Elementary.
