Phillip Deane Gerking passed away on May 24, 2013, at his daughter’s home in the Seattle area.
He was born Aug. 15, 1928, to Ardis and Ahda Gerking of Milton. He was the president of the class of 1946 at Mac-Hi and served in the Navy from 1946-1948. He attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., where he was active in the orchestra and the Gleemen.
Phillip is survived by his sister, Daurice Rittenhouse; and brother, Mike Gerking of Milton-Freewater; his sister, Diane Gerking of Burns, Ore.; six children; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom reside in the greater Seattle area. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nancy (Collins) Gerking.
Services will be held at the Saltwater Unitarian Universalist Church in Des Moines, Wash., on June 15, 2013, at 2 pm.
