Knight to quit Blue Mountain Community Foundation

WALLA WALLA — Lawson Knight has submitted his resignation as executive director of Blue Mountain Community Foundation, board member Anne Marie Zell-Schwerin said today.

Knight has served as the foundation’s head since 2002 and has been recognized nationally for his service to the Walla Walla Valley area.

He was unavailable this morning for comment.

Foundation trustees will are to receive the resignation at their Tuesday meeting, said board president Dan Reid.

A search committee to find a successor will form soon, Zell-Schwerin said. In October, Philanthropy Northwest named Knight its “Volunteer of the Year,” citing exceptional leadership, community connection and collaboration with philanthropic organizations.

Officially, the foundation’s board of trustees will receive the resignation at its Tuesday meeting, said board president Dan Reid.

A search committee will meet soon to decide the direction to take in filling Knight’s shoes, Zell-Schwerin said.
