MOSES LAKE — The Walla Walla Cubs 16U squad picked up a pair of summer baseball victories over the Moses Lake Sun Devils here Sunday, 7-5 and 11-0.
Talen Larsen and Kyle Gradwohl keyed the Cubs’ victories on the mound, Larsen starting the opener and Gradwohl the nightcap.
Gradwohl also had four hits in the twin bill.
“We had great pitching performances by Talen Larsen and Kyle Gradwohl,” Cubs coach Kevin McNeil said. “It was nice to see our offense finally come alive to help our pitching, which has been the strength of our team this year.”
The Cubs smacked 10 hits in the first game, and 13 in the second, while pitching allowed five and three hits, respectively.
“It was nice to see the kids show up and perform well while we were missing a couple of our normal middle-of-the-order bats,” McNeil said.
The victories even the Cubs’ record at 7-7, and they host the Yakima Rookies for a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Murr Field on Friday.
