WALLA WALLA — Green and good, and good and green will be the focus at Walla Walla Community College’s Water and Environmental Center on Saturday for the Sustainable Living Center’s annual Green Home and Garden Tour.
Vendors and informational booths will be on hand 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and activity for kids throughout the day.
At registration participants will receive a self-guided tour booklet with maps directing them to the seven additional tour locations and a chance to win an overnight stay at the Marcus Whitman Hotel. Examples of environmental sustainability on the route will feature government buildings, gardens, homes and business buildings in the area. Tour sites will be open and staffed 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
At the Water Center, vendors will demonstrate alternative energy components, “tiny” homes, gardening techniques, energy saving door and windows and more. Dave Dahlin, Sustainable Living Center’s energy expert, will be on hand to answer questions about home energy efficiency and the Community Energy Efficiency Program.
