CRIMINAL CASES

Luciano Castorena Jr., 25, Washington State Penitentiary, 1313 N. 13th Ave., was charged June 18 with riot, third-degree assault, and second-degree malicious mischief. Castorena is accused of participating in a disturbance at the Walla Walla County Jail, assaulting a Walla Walla police officer, and knowingly and maliciously damaging or tampering with a housing unit and toilet sewage pipes at the jail on Nov. 23, 2012.

JUVENILE CASES

Elric R. Williams, 16, 1310 S. Fourth Ave., was sentenced May 10 on one count third-degree theft. The sentence included 10 days in the Juvenile Justice Center, 12 months community supervision, 20 hours community service, $100 to crime victims compensation fund, $110 in court costs. On April 26 Williams pleaded guilty to wrongfully obtaining or exerting unauthorized control of the property of another of a value not exceeding $750 with intent to deprive the owner on Jan. 10.

Kassandra Gamez, 13, 1331 W. Pine St., No. 13, was sentenced May 10 on one count minor in possession or consuming liquor. The sentence included 30 days in the Juvenile Justice Center, credit for 23 days served, 12 months community supervision, 20 hours community service, $100 to crime victims compensation fund, $110 in court costs. On April 30 Gamez pleaded guilty to consuming alcohol while under age 21 on March 2.

Kassandra Gamez, 13, 1331 W. Pine St., No. 13, was sentenced May 10 on one count contempt of court. The sentence included 30 days in the Juvenile Justice Center, 12 months community supervision, 32 hours community service with credit for four days, $100 to crime victims compensation fund, $110 in court costs. On April 30 Gamez pleaded guilty to intentionally disobeying a lawful court order requiring a student to attend school, between Dec. 5 and Feb. 6.

Dylon Ridenour, 17, 924 Highland Road, was sentenced May 10 on one count second-degree reckless burning. The sentence included 15 days in the Juvenile Justice Center, nine months community supervision, 30 hours community service, $100 to crime victims compensation fund, $110 in court costs. On April 26 Ridenour pleaded guilty to lighting a poster on fire at Walla Walla High School, recklessly causing a fire that could have destroyed property on Jan. 31.

Wyatt Rand-Schmerer, 17, 24 Lenore St., was sentenced May 24 on one count third-degree theft. The sentence included 3 months community supervision, 20 hours community service, $100 to crime victims compensation fund, $110 in court costs, restitution of $10.83. On April 26 Rand-Schmerer pleaded guilty to wrongfully obtaining or exerting unauthorized control of property belonging to Loney’s Harvest Foods which did not exceed $750 in value with intent to deprive the owner on Jan. 23.

Matthew Cavazos, 14, 82 N.W. Earl Lane, College Place, was sentenced June 11 on one count no vehicle operator license. The sentence included 10 days in the Juvenile Justice Center, 12 months community supervision, 20 hours community service, $100 to crime victims compensation fund, $110 in court costs. On March 24 Cavazos pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle upon a highway in this state without a valid driving license expired or not or any identification in his possession on Jan. 19.
