Laura Faye Mooney of Portland and formerly of Milton-Freewater died June 17, 2013 in Portland at the age of 50 years. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater. Concluding services and interment will follow at the Milton-Freewater Cemetery.
Laura was born Aug. 1, 1962, the daughter of Mildred Jean Steele and Jasper “Bo” Lafayette Mooney. She was raised with her older brother Bud Mooney and younger brother Monty Mooney. She grew up in Hood River, Ore., and started her family in Milton-Freewater. She later moved to the Portland area to focus on her career. Laura was a registered nurse and loved to make her patients smile. She would dwell on their well-being to the exclusion of most else. She enjoyed most handy crafts including crochet and cross stitch. She also had a fondness for most animals and had several dogs, cats and other pets throughout her life. Laura has touched the lives of many and will be missed by all those who had the privilege to come into her life.
Survivors include her children, Mindi Jean Turner of Milton-Freewater and Christopher James Warner of Oak Harbor, Wash.; her mother, Jean Barclay of Carlton, Ore.; two grandchildren; brothers, Bud Mooney of Texas and Monty Mooney of Wilsonville, Ore. Laura is joining her father Bo and son Johnathon, who preceded her in death.
