In the Minutes - Pomeroy School Board


Pomeroy School District board members are Ed Sullivan, Lorri Flynn, Teri Mayfield, Bart Gingerich and Paul Ruark. With Gingerich absent, the board:

ASB: Approve an increase of the ASB card fee to $45, family passes to $55 for adults and $50 for seniors, and yearbook purchase price to $40 during the school year and $50 after.

STAFF: Heard report that open position for district secretary is being advertised. Approved hire of Jennifer Rasmussen for first and second grade and Katie Bolland for half-time third-grade teacher positions. Approved termination of bus driver Ron Barnes.

CURRICULUM: Discussed curriculum purchase for contemporary world problems class, but deferred making a decision until next year’s budget is more certain.

WAIVER: Approved waiver from 180-day school year to allow staff three days of professional development.

UNION: Approved collective bargaining agreement with GCEA. The only significant change was in the wording on teacher evaluations, due to changes in state law.

EVALUATION: Reported that teachers have completed evaluations of Superintendent Doug LaMunyan in his capacity as high school principal. An evaluation by the board will be presented at the next school board meeting.

LUNCH: Approved 25 cent increase in school lunch prices, to $2.75 for the junior-senior high school and $2.50 for the elementary school.

MEETINGS: Approved future board meetings on July 10 and 30 at 7 p.m.
