CROP Walk raises $6,062 to benefit area, other food banks
MILTON-FREEWATER — The 2013 CROP Walk, held at Yantis Park in Milton-Freewater, was a success, according to a news release from First Christian Church of Milton-Freewater.
This was the first year the event came off without Dorothy Heard, active in the walk since 1991. Heard’s family asked that gifts in her memory be sent to CROP Walk.
CROP walk’s goal of $6,000 was exceeded by $62. There were 59 walkers, 15 churches and service organizations, and many people contributing. One-quarter of funds raised will come back to the community supporting a food bank, Christmas food baskets and Christian Aid Center. Three folks raised more than $300 each: Cleo Forgey, Abi Biggs, and Susan Dohrmann. Call First Christian Church, 518 S. Main St. at 541-938-3854 for information.
