SPARTANBURG, S.C. — College of Charleston sophomore pitcher and Wa-Hi standout Hope Klicker was named the Southern Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Klicker went 2-0 in the circle in two appearances last week, throwing complete games in both outings. The lefty recorded a 0.50 ERA after allowing just one run in 14 innings. Klicker allowed only seven hits and did not walk a single batter, while striking out 22. She did not allow an extra-base hit and held her opponents to a .143 batting average.
And on Thursday, Klicker again went the distance as Charleston knocked off No. 7 Tennessee, 3-1, to lead the Cougars to a 7-3 record. Klicker gave up a first-inning run to the Vols, but then allowed just three hits and no runs as she struck out six.
