WALLA WALLA — Bids are now being taken for the former Walla Walla Gardener’s Association plant and property.
Located at 205 N. 11th Ave., the produce packing and shipping company closed its doors in November after filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
The property and processing equipment are being sold by a sealed bid auction, said Todd Good of Accelerated Marketing Group. The deadline for submitting bids is 3 p.m. on March 27.
Bids need to be sent or delivered to Land Title of Walla Walla County, 33 E. Main St., marked attention to Wayne Wasser Jr.
Interested people can inspect the property and equipment from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on three days prior to the close of bidding, Good said. The first inspection day is Thursday and subsequent inspection days will be March 14 and March 21.
All bidders are required to buy a property information packet at a cost of $20, Good said. The packet contains building information, a preliminary title report, a phase I environmental report, a sample purchase and sale agreement and bidding procedures.
The packets will be available for purchase at the Walla Walla Gardener’s Association site on inspection days and at Macon Brothers Auctioneers offices, 728 W. Rees Ave.
The bids will be considered based on bid price, conformity to the terms and conditions of the sealed bid contract form, proof of financial ability, the ability to close in the shortest amount of time and the ability to purchase both the real and personal property.
Walla Walla Gardener’s Association was founded in 1916 as a cooperative for local farmers to pack and ship their produce. Prior to its closing, it sold and shipped Walla Walla Sweet Onions under the Gloria label and fresh asparagus.
