On Monday, March 4, 2013, the Lord rewarded

his good and faithful servant, Fred

Reichow, by taking him home to be with

Him. Those who knew Fred will not be

surprised to know that he left this world at

peace and with a smile on his face.

Frederick I. Reichow was born September

17, 1934, to William R. and Gladys

“Toots” Weathermon Reichow, in Winchester,

Idaho. He grew up on a farm in

Idaho and graduated from Orofino High

School in 1954. It was at a high school dance where Fred met Barbara

Beck. He attended the University of Idaho from 1954-1955

and joined the US Navy in 1956. He and Barbara were married in

1957.

They spent most of their married life in Portland, Oregon and

had three children – Kathryn Lea, Daniel D. and Deborah Ann.

The children were still quite young when Barbara passed in January,

Fred was both mother and father to his children. They

enjoyed camping and traveling and the children especially enjoyed

the strength and security Fred brought to their lives, even in time

of adversity, as was his way.

In 1974 the family moved to Milton-Freewater, Oregon where

Fred began farming which is what he had always wanted to do.

That same year, he met Sheena Richwine, a widowed mother of

four. The two were married in June of 1975 and two families became

one.

Fred was strong of faith and strong of courage with an enormous

capacity to love unconditionally. People will remember his ready

smile, hearty handshake and graciousness. He spent many years

in the service of his Lord through Good Samaritan Ministries and

touched many lives through that.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Virginia

Reichow and Lois Tiede; both Barbara and Sheena and one

son, Ronald Conrad.

He is survived by six children: Heather Hamilton of Edmonds,

Washington; Ashley Conrad of Whistler, British Columbia; Dawn

Stephan of Lake Forest Park, Washington; Kathryn Reichow of

Kirkland, Washington; Daniel Reichow of Lake Stevens, Washington;

and Deborah Fisher of Bothell, Washington; fifteen grandchildren;

five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 11:00 a.m. to

1:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013, at Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military

Road, Walla Walla, Washington. The memorial service will be

2:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Athena Baptist Church,

5th and High Streets, Athena, Oregon. Pastor John Nichols will

officiate. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to

Good Samaritan Ministries through the funeral home.
