Blarneycats, Rogues to play Irish music


WALLA WALLA — Traditional Irish music by the Blarneycats and Irish dancing will highlight Whitman College’s Fridays at Four presentation at 4 p.m. Friday in Kimball Hall in Hunter Conservatory.

The Rogues will perform Irish music from 6-8 p.m. March 14 at Olive Marketplace and Café, 21 E. Main St.

A local Irish band, the Blarneycats will perform with Irish dancers Elizabeth Fleming and Laura Holford. Members of the Blarneycats are Laura Hall, vocals and bodhran; Larry Dickerson, Irish bagpipes, concertina, Irish flute, pennywhistle, mandolin, mandola and more; Jon St. Hilaire, guitar and vocals, and Trudy Ostby, fiddle. The group has been performing in the area since the early 1980s.

Additional Blarneycats performances will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. March 15 at Laht Neppur Ale House, 53 S. Spokane St. with Irish dancers Elizabeth Fleming and friends; 7-9 p.m. March 16 at Ten Depot Street restaurant in La Grande; and 5-8 p.m. March 17 at Olive Marketplace and Café.
