Liberty Tax Service office is taking up a classroom collection.

The local office, 705 W. Rose St., is collecting school supplies for teachers and coats and gently used backpacks for children in need in Walla Walla.

Items most requested include glue sticks, markers, pencils, colored pencils, dry erase markers, highlighters, printer paper, construction paper, composition books, portfolio folders, binders, notebooks, tri-fold boards, Play-Doh, boxes of tissue, zip top bags in all sizes, electronic pencil sharpeners and hand sanitizer.

Many charitable donations are tax deductible, too, said local Liberty Tax franchise owner Sharon Dodgin. For more information, call 526-5081. A Liberty Tax office is also located in Waitsburg at 210 Preston Ave.
