WALLA WALLA — The site of the Rural Library District’s new County Central Library will be in College Place.
On Monday, district trustees voted unanimously to buy a 1.9-acre lot at 1685 S. College Ave. just north of Sager Middle School for $250,000.
“After nearly a year’s search, the board believes this property is ideally located to serve its suburban library residents and the many rural families living in developments to the south and west of the greater Walla Walla area,” a media release stated.
District officials went on to state that the new library will be easily accessible, being situated near Mojonnier Road and Highway 125 and being on a major bus line that connects to Walla Walla Community College through College Place.
The design of the 15,000 square foot library has yet to be released, though architect Jon Campbell presented a preliminary design to the board, officials stated.
