Missionary men second in Clarkston

CLARKSTON — Whitman College men’s golfers finished second at the Warrior Invitational at Clarkston Golf and Country Club Tuesday.

Host Lewis-Clark State College won the tourney trophy by following Monday’s opening-round 297 with a 301 to finish at 598.

The Missionaries finished 311-309—620, followed by Whitworth at 314-314—628, College of Idaho at 326-314—640, and Lethbridge at 352-357—709.

Whitman’s Geoff Burks led the five-score effort at 77-74—151, followed by Scott Martin 76-76—152, Andrew Welch’s 77-79—156, Daniel Hoffman’s 81-80—161 and Jefferson Liu’s 85-93—178.

Non-scoring Missionaries include Connor Hood’s 83-79—162, Jordon Dickson’s 83-88—171, and Jonathan Standen’s 91-83—174.

Washington State’s Kent Hagen was medalist at 69-71—140. The Cougars did not compete as a team.

Whitman is now off until the Spring Classic at Gold Mountain Golf Course in Bremerton April 6-7.
