Wineries brew up St. Patrick's event

A handful of downtown Walla Walla wineries is offering an alternative to a traditional St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

“Red Wine, Not Green Beer” will be a celebration of St. Patrick’s Day on the eve of the actual holiday.

On Saturday, five downtown wineries will offer a daylong tasting event, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

A tasting card can be purchased for $5 and will allow the participant a tasting at each of the five wineries. The cards are available at all participating tasting rooms to allow patrons to tour at their own pace in whatever order they’d like. The tasting cards can also be used for a 10 percent discount on all bottles purchased. Special gold coins will also be “hidden” at various locations. Some will entitle the finder to prizes.

Participating wineries are Plumb Cellars, 9 S. First Ave.; Sinclair Estate Vineyards, 109 E. Main St.; Otis Kenyon, 23 E. Main St.; Fort Walla Walla Cellars, 127 E. Main St.; and Cadaretta, 315 E. Main St. For more details, call 529-9463.
