WALLA WALLA — Walla Walla Public Schools is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony March 25 at the construction site for the new Southeast Area Technical Skills Center.
The public ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Walla Walla Community College, where the center is being built. The new facility will be located next to the college’s Automotive Technology Center on East Isaacs Avenue. Members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony and learn more about the state-funded facility geared for regional high school students looking to explore vocational and technical education careers after high school.
The center will offer high school classes in construction trades, welding, renewable resources and health occupation programs. The skills center will be available for students in the Dayton, Waitsburg, Touchet, Prescott, College Place and Walla Walla school districts.
The new facility is expected to be finished March 2014, with classes starting in the fall of 2014.
