WALLA WALLA — Whitman College is seeking teen applicants for its annual Whitman Institute for Scholastic Enrichment program. The program is open to students in seventh and eighth grades. Students for low-income homes, or those who would be the first in their families to go to college are especially encouraged to apply.

This year’s WISE program will be held Aug. 11-13 at Whitman. WISE introduces participants to college life, with the goal of encouraging students to reach higher education.

Students accepted into the program participate free of charge, and get to stay in dorms, eat meals in the college’s dining hall and attend classes taught by Whitman professors.

A parent workshop focusing on the financial aid process is also included.

The deadline to apply is May 31. More information is available at www.whitman.edu/content/intercultural-center/wise or by emailing Sonja Aikens, WISE coordinator, at aikenssl@whitman.edu.
