Dayton posts softball victories over Asotin

DAYTON — Dayton High School picked up a pair of softball victories over Asotin Saturday to open Southeast 2B play, 6-5 and 8-4.

The Panthers outhit Dayton in the nightcap, 11-10, but managed to score just four runs.

“They spread (hits) around,” Dayton coach Desirae Jones said of Asotin’s batting. “They also got picked off on some poor baserunning, which got us out of some innings actually.”

Dayton also committed four errors in the game, and seven on the day.

“We did have more errors than we would liked to have,” Jones said, “but in each case we ended up coming back from them and they didn’t hurt us too bad.”

Dayton (4-0, 2-0 SE2B) hosts Riverview Tuesday for a single game at 3 p.m.
