Touchet sweeps defending champs Colton

TOUCHET — Late-inning magic made winners out of Touchet High School here Saturday in Southeast 1B softball, as the Indians defeated the defending state champions Colton by scores of 5-4 and 7-6, both in walk-off style.

In the second game Touchet trailed 6-4 going into the bottom of the seventh.

Kristen Warner and Makayla Bishop both singled. The baserunners advanced on a double steal and Morgan Cardwell hit a two-RBI double.

Cardwell stole third and scored the game-ending run on a pass ball.

The first game was tied 4-4 going into the bottom of the seventh.

Touchet’s Courtney Creek pinch hit with two outs and singled. Cardwell doubled to put runners on second and third base. Creek scored the winning run on another pass ball.

Touchet (2-0 league, 3-1 overall) plays again Tuesday in Touchet against Waitsburg-Prescott at 4 p.m.
