Tri-City Herald leader to discuss future of trade

RICHLAND — President and Publisher of the Tri-City Herald Gregg McConnell will address the gathering of the Columbia Basin Section 614 of the American Society for Quality on April 2 at 5:30 p.m. at O’Callahan’s, 50 Comstock Road. Non-members are welcome to attend.

The much publicized plight of the newspaper business is more than just a story about how technology is challenging the future of an industry. It’s a story about how the country’s most unique quasi-public, yet fiercely independent, institution is fighting to preserve and redefine journalism.

McConnell will speak about the business of journalism, the transformation of the newspaper industry and the struggle to differentiate journalism from news.

Check-in is at 5:30 p.m.; buffet dinner is at 6 p.m. and the presentation at 6:45 p.m.

Reservations required by March 28. The cost is $17 for ASQ members; $20 non-members; and $5 presentation only.

For more information or to make reservations, email or call 509-371-2221.
