WALLA WALLA — Drew Christina, Bear Braich, and Nick Bettinson combined on a five-hitter as Walla Walla Community College nipped Edmonds, 3-2, in game two of an NWAACC baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field.
The Tritons took the opener, 5-3.
Saturday’s split leaves the Warriors at 8-6 overall.
Ryan Neal gave WWCC a 1-0 edge in the first inning of game one with an RBI single.
Edmonds scored twice in both the third and fifth innings before Walla Walla responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Ryan Rambur brought both Warrior runs home with a double.
The teams were tied at 2-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning of the nightcap. The Warriors’ Trevor Jones led off the inning with a double, moved to third on a Shane Dixon grounder, and scored on a Tony Salas single.
“We made quite a few mental mistakes, but we still found a way to pull out a win and that’s a positive,” WWCC coach Dave Meliah said. “You’re not always going to be at your best, but you’ve got to find a way to still get the job done and in the second game, we did.”
The Warriors host Lower Columbia today at 11 a.m.
