TOUCHET — Touchet High School knocked out 17 base hits and took advantage of five Waitsburg-Prescott errors for a 13-3, mercy-rule shortened, District 9 1B-2B softball victory over W-P Tuesday afternoon.
Touchet got off to a rollicking start with three base hits to open the game and didn’t look back, scoring three runs in the first and eight in the second.
“(The second inning) was one of those innings where anything that could go right for us did, and what could go wrong for them did,” Touchet coach Gary Dorman said. “Obviously though, our kids hit the ball really well for the day.”
Touchet got hits from every batter in its lineup.
Makayla Bishop and Harlie Schaeffer combined to give up four hits over five innings and had just two walks between them.
“They’re (Bishop and Schaeffer) throwing a lot of strikes and we’re playing good defense behind them,” Dorman said.
Touchet (4-1) opens league play with a Southeast 1B doubleheader at home Friday against Garfield-Palouse at 2 p.m.
