TOUCHET — Waitsburg-Prescott’s Dalton Estes smacked a three-run home run in the first inning to set the tone for a non-league baseball game here Tuesday, en route to a 10-5 W-P victory over Touchet.
“They started out pretty well,” Indians coach Tim McKeown said of W-P’s first inning. “They got a couple walks, and Dalton came up and hit the scoreboard. It was a pretty good shot! That’s pretty much how the game went for us.”
Touchet answered with two runs in the bottom of the first, but W-P pulled away with two more in the third, four in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Touchet plated a runner in the third, and two in the sixth.
“I don’t think we ever really settled in,” McKeown said. “They’re (W-P) are playing pretty good ball right now, so you’ve got to hit the ball and stay with them run for run. That was the difference in the game.”
Touchet, now 3-3 overall and 0-2 in Southeast 1B League play, host Garfield-Palouse for a league twin bill at 2 p.m. Friday.
W-P hosts Tri-Cities Prep for a Southeast 2B League twin bill at 11 a.m. Saturday.
