PULLMAN — Walla Walla Valley Academy’s Brandon Bissell and Waitsburg-Prescott’s James Thompkins won three events each here Wednesday as most of Eastern Washington’s Class B schools joined host Pullman, a Class 2A school, in track and field competition.

Bissell swept the hurdle events, added a first-place finish in the long jump and ran the first leg on WWVA’s second-place finish in the 400-meter relay. He was clocked in 16.84 seconds in winning the 110 high hurdles, turned in a 44.48 winning time in the 300 intermediate hurdles and sailed 20 feet, 6 1/2 inches to take first in the long jump.

Bissell joined Wesley Hendrickson, Caleb Atkins and Neff Salazar on the relay squad that was caught in 47.41. Hendrickson also had a solid day for the Knights with a third-place finish in the intermediate hurdles (47.32) and fourth in the highs (19.97).
