Grand opening for downtown rental condos set for Tuesday

Downtown Walla Walla’s new vacation rental condos will open their doors for a grand opening celebration Tuesday.

Visitors can tour the five vacation rental units on the second and third floors of the Whiteside Building, 51 E. Main St., during the celebration from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Wines from DaMa and brews from Laht Neppur will be poured. Appetizers will be served, and a bit of history of the 1890 Whiteside Building will be shared.

The building, owned by Ron and Dana Dunning, aims to be a jewel of the downtown corridor, according to an announcement on next week’s event.

The building’s renovation started in 2007 by Raffaele Exiana Design and was completed under USKH Inc. It houses two main-floor retail spaces occupied by clothing boutique Forward and DaMa Wines.

The new “51 East Main” property, managed by Alexa Palmer, is designed to offer something different: accommodations for up to eight adults per unit in a sophisticated setting in the heart of downtown.

“Walla Walla has become one of the brightest vacation destinations in the Pacific Northwest, if not the Western United States over the past few years; and we saw a need for a property better suited to group travelers and those desiring full kitchens and entertaining space, but in a centrally located location in the heart of the action,” said Dana Dunning in the announcement.

The suites include spa bathrooms, chef’s kitchens and furnishings. “We think we have added many of the touches that modern travelers demand,” Dunning added.

The suites are described as ideal for business travelers in need of high-speed internet access, collaborative workspace for hosting meetings and access to major government and corporate offices. They’re also targeted to families looking for something outside of traditional hotels. The suites are available for buyout for special events and corporate retreats.

Next Tuesday’s event is put on in conjunction with the Walla Walla Valley Chamber of Commerce and Achieva Marketing Group. Guests can enter from Main Street. Those who attend can drop off a business card for a chance to win a night’s stay. For more details visit, call 520-8975 or follow on Facebook.
