Spring break has activities aplenty in Walla Walla


This spring break, fun is in full bloom with exciting activities you can do right here in Walla Walla.

For example, if you are not a part of The Mom’s Network you might want to Google the website. Beth Swanson, Founder and President of The Moms’ Network has an updated calendar of events that everyone can enjoy. Here are some activities I found in Walla Walla the first week of April.

Morning Walk

Monday, April 1, 9-11:30 a.m.

Where: Catherine Street & Thorne

Meet other TMN members for a morning walk to Walla Walla Bread Co. for coffee and to play at the downtown park.


Friday, April 5, 10 a.m.-noon

Where: Fort Walla Walla

Join other TMN members and kids for play time at Fort Walla Walla.

Walla Walla Public Library

Stories and More!

Wednesday, April 3, 3-4 p.m.

Family story time Stories and More on Wednesdays at 3:00 pm. All ages are welcome! There will be stories, books and all kinds of fun things at your library.

Read to Me!

Thursday, April 4, 2013, 11 a.m.

Early learners story time. On Thursdays at 11 a.m. for babies to preschool age children. Children participate in stories, songs and socializing.

Block ‘n’ Roll

Saturday, April 6, 2013, 10-11:30 a.m.

Hundreds of blocks, thousands of books! Come spend Saturday morning at the Library.

The Sweet Putt

Open every day during spring break from noon-8 p.m.

The Sweet Putt has a nine hole indoor course that provides a challenge to all mini-golfers and great entertainment for all ages. Plus, the indoor facility also is home to a pool table, foosball, air hockey, pinball, and much more! There is also an eighteen hole outdoor course that is jam packed with family fun.

The Pottery Painting Studio at Carnegie

Open to the public over spring break:

Thursday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.

Friday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

You can choose from a large variety of bisque ware (pottery that has already been formed and is just waiting to be painted, glazed, and fired) ranging from $2-$80; everything from magnets to serving platters (the price of each item includes paint, painting time, glaze, staff help, and firing). There is something for everyone. Not creative? That is OK, the pottery staff can show you tricks to make your painting experience easy and fun.

YWCA Ice Chalet

2013 Cheap Skates — April 1, 3 and 5.

The rink is open for public skating from 1-3 p.m.. Normal skating times are Fridays from 5-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Saturdays 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Sundays 2-4 p.m..

Walla Walla YMCA

Spring Break Day Camp

April 1-5, full day: 7:45 a.m.-5:30 p.m., half-day: 7:45 a.m.-noon or 1-5:30 p.m.

Calling all Kindergarteners to sixth-graders pack your sack lunch and take a Hawaiian vacation at the Y Spring Break Day Camp. Enjoy games, create island crafts, make exploding volcanoes and invite your family for a luau party Friday. For more information contact Christy at cdruffel@wwymca.org.

Learn to swim week at the Y!

April 1-4

Bring your swimsuit and towel to the Y’s learn to swim week. This program is designed for children ages 5-11, who are not members of the YMCA. Children will receive free swim lessons for one week.
