WALLA WALLA — Walla Walla High School’s boys soccer team notched its first Mid-Columbia Conference win of the season, 4-3, over Southridge Saturday.
Wa-Hi (1-5 MCC, 3-5 overall) trailed 2-0 early in the game.
Blue Devil Gerardo Gomez scored on an assist from Christian Sergova to pull Wa-Hi within one.
Jose Maya scored the tying goal assisted by Alejandro Gutierrez.
Wa-Hi jumped into the lead with five minutes remaining in the first half on a goal by Esteban Ojada assisted by Maya.
Wa-Hi led 3-2 at the intermission.
Ten minutes into the second half Southridge tied it at three-all.
Alexis Medina scored the game-winner for Wa-Hi on an assist from Sergova with 15 minutes remaining.
“We have been struggling to score and have had trouble keeping goals out,” Wa-Hi Mike Washington said. “It was good to play well and score enough to win. We showed some fighting spirit and it was good to see us scoring finally.”
The Blue Devils take to the field again Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Kamikian High School.
