Bulldogs sweep aside Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia softballers


TEKOA — The Dayton High School softball team swept Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia here Tuesday, 11-8 and 6-4, in Southeast 2B competition.

Lexus Ward pitched all 14 innings for the Bulldogs and struck out 11 while walking only one.

“Lexus Ward had a great day in the circle. The defense behind her was good too,” Dayton coach Desirae Jones said. “We had a few bobbles but no major letdowns. We also had some girls step up and hit the ball with runners on.”

McKayla Bickelhaupt had five hits in the twin bill to lead the Bulldogs.

Together Dayton had 19 hits and 17 runs in the two games.

Dayton (6-4 league, 9-9) plays next Tuesday in a district play-in game, time and place TBA.

The alumni game will be May 11th.
