ROSALIA — The Dayton High School baseball team lost, 5-2 and 13-1, against Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia in SE 2B action here Tuesday.
Dayton pitcher Lowden Smith starred in game one, striking out 14 batters.
T-O-R still managed to score the five runs on five hits and two Dayton errors.
“The difference in game one was that T-O-R turned three double plays against us,” Dayton coach Sal Benavides said. “We just couldn’t get the base hits at the right times. We had chances to score just about every inning but just couldn’t get it done.”
In the second game, Dayton fared worse as the Bulldogs committed six errors and failed to hit the ball in key situations again.
The Bulldogs scored one run on four hits in the mercy rule game of five innings.
Dayton is now 5-13 overall and 2-10 in league at the completion of the regular season.
The Bulldogs play again next Tuesday in the district playoffs, loser-out.
